We Love a Good Quarterback Story

Tonight is the NFL Draft and I am very excited. I am looking forward to seeing some of my favorite players from college move on to the next part of their careers. I am looking forward to seeing who the Colts pick up in Year 1 AG (After Grigson). I am also looking forward to seeing which overhyped quarterback gets taken in the first round (COUGHTRUBISKYCOUGH).

This is a short article; here are the quarterbacks since 2002 (the NFL expansion year with the Texans) who were taken in the first round who probably did not deserve to be taken in the first round. I left off the guys taken since 2014 since they still have hope for them yet.

  • EJ Manuel – Buffalo Bills – 2013 Pick 16
  • Brandon Weeden – Cleveland Browns – 2012 Pick 22
  • Jake Locker – Tennessee Titans – 2011 Pick 8
  • Blaine Gabbert – Jacksonville Jaguars – 2011 Pick 10
  • Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings – 2011 Pick 12
  • Sam Bradford – St. Louis (LA) – 2010 Pick 1
  • Tim Tebow – Denver Broncos – 2010 Pick 25
  • Mark Sanchez – New York Jets – 2009 Pick 5
  • Jamarcus Russell – Oakland – 2007 Pick 1
  • Brady Quinn – Cleveland – 2007 Pick 22
  • Vince Young – Tennessee – 2006 Pick 3
  • Matt Leinart – Arizona – 2006 Pick 10
  • Alex Smith – San Francisco – 2005 Pick 1
  • Jason Campbell – Washington – 2005 Pick 25
  • J.P. Losman – Buffalo – 2004 Pick 22
  • Kyle Boller – Baltimore – 2003 Pick 19
  • Rex Grossman – Chicago – 2003 Pick 22
  • David Carr – Houston – 2002 Pick 1
  • Joey Harrington – Detroit – 2002 Pick 3
  • Patrick Ramsey – Washington – 2002 Pick 32

Also, featured in the header image are all of these fine men on their draft days…except Patrick Ramsey. I could not find a picture of Patrick Ramsey being drafted so I found some knockoff trading card image with his college picture on it.
